The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 6 played minutes Laziali got a freekick which was hit by Aleko Kamberski. The audience was convinced that Eusebius Smolarek's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Delyan Súrnev was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. 9 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Rix came free, but Dieguinho Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kosta Kúnov in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dieguinho Paraíba saved Manchester United FC from getting behind. Dieguinho Paraíba came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Laziali's Darin Gladichev. But to his dismay, Darin Gladichev quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 15th match minute, Laziali was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kosta Kúnov to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Laziali's Delyan Súrnev got control of the ball when 俞谦平 tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dieguinho Paraíba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Velichko Shindarov in the 23rd minute of the match. Delyan Súrnev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Junior Shevchenko in the 31st minute. Laziali's Thomas Rix got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rostislav Filchovski charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rostislav Filchovski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 39 minutes, Junior Shevchenko made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Laziali's Delyan Súrnev tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 44 played minutes Manchester United FC got a freekick which was hit by Eusebius Smolarek. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Thomas Rix was the one to do the kick off. Naycho Mollov hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester United FC's zone, Kosta Kúnov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dieguinho Paraíba came out of the goal and Kosta Kúnov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Junior Shevchenko's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Delyan Súrnev was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Delyan Súrnev took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Junior Shevchenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manchester United FC's Eusebius Smolarek got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kosta Kúnov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Dieguinho Paraíba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dieguinho Paraíba didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kosta Kúnov went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Manchester United FC's İbrahim Efe Ersayın was substituted for 俞谦平. Delyan Súrnev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Junior Shevchenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. If Thomas Rix had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laziali's Delyan Súrnev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eusebius Smolarek in the 86th minute of play.
