Cecilio Tristan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Alfredo Joey made a huge save. After 21 played minutes Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Marcelino Chaime. In the 22nd minute of the match Genaro Elivareo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Joey skillfully saved the ball. The audience was convinced that Arnoldo Medina's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugo Orlando Gatti was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 29 minutes into the match, Abuba Akotonon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arnoldo Medina came free, but Hugo Orlando Gatti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palermo were furious when Carles Borg was red carded, 31 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. The supporters of Abuba Akotonon FC booed when Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcelino Chaime didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnoldo Medina kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After having played for 45 minutes, Cecilio Tristan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abuba Akotonon FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cecilio Tristan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnoldo Medina stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Genaro Elivareo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Joey having to interfere. When Marcelino Chaime came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Palermo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelino Chaime couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Abuba Akotonon FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Vânderson Barbosa hit a great ball. Hugo Orlando Gatti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelino Chaime in the 65th minute of play. Abuba Akotonon FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Genaro Elivareo in the 71st minute. After taking down the ball on Abuba Akotonon FC's corner Genaro Elivareo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Alfredo Joey quite easily take care of the ball. Hugo Orlando Gatti made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Marcelino Chaime sent off a good shot on target. Eduardo Emmanuel charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduardo Emmanuel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 90th match minute, Abuba Akotonon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduardo Emmanuel to maneuver through the defense. Abuba Akotonon FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
