Big Babousa's Svetlozar Karamihov proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Big Babousa from getting a goal against them. Svetlozar Karamihov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Santiago Mino in the 16th minute. After 17 minutes Big Babousa's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Saul Felo who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Marcelino Chaime heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arnoldo Medina in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Svetlozar Karamihov saved Big Babousa from getting behind. Alfredo Joey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ben Breton in the 22nd minute of play. After 26 minutes, Ben Breton made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Palermo's Alfredo Joey tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Marcelino Chaime got a free kick in the 29th minute. If Ben Breton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute Ben Breton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Joey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute of the game Saul Felo made a throw-in which Santiago Mino played forward. Svetlozar Karamihov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Medina in the 41st minute of play. The supporters of Palermo booed when Big Babousa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gandalf Thunderchief didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Big Babousa's Hector Bladi was substituted for Ben Breton. Hector Bladi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Alfredo Joey made a huge save. Alfredo Joey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Bladi, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute.
