In the 7thth minute of the game Cecilio Tristan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAN LORENZO FC's Dario Astigar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 15 minutes into the match, SAN LORENZO FC's Artur Quintas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hugo Orlando Gatti narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 18th minute Lisandro Nuñez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Orlando Gatti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of SAN LORENZO FC booed when Abuba Akotonon FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. J.J Okocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hugo Orlando Gatti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lisandro Nuñez in the 38th minute of play.
