The supporters of Deportivo Messina booed when Pretorianos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Hector Jerardo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Messina's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Jerardo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marciano Idacio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 46 minutes into the game, Pretorianos FC's Sabino Valverde nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Yuriy Babushkin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0.

In the 72nd minute Tostão Ceresso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuriy Babushkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
