After some careless play in the Abuba Akotonon FC defense, Edelmiro Jago kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hugo Orlando Gatti. The Abuba Akotonon FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hugo Orlando Gatti should have stopped the shot. In the 18th minute, Cecilio Tristan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnoldo Canor was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. When Cecilio Tristan came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Abuba Akotonon FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cecilio Tristan couldn't finish the play. Cecilio Tristan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnoldo Canor having to interfere. Cecilio Tristan might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnoldo Canor. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cecilio Tristan ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 47th minute Cecilio Tristan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnoldo Canor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Cecilio Tristan made the kick off in the second half. Zacarias Lesardo made in the 51st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eelco Houtman. The audience was convinced that Dave Blair's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugo Orlando Gatti was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Dave Blair put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Hugo Orlando Gatti. After having played for 95 minutes, Cecilio Tristan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Abuba Akotonon FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cecilio Tristan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Abuba Akotonon FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
