GUAYACO's goalkeeper Oso Amezaga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 3rd match minute, C.A. GUAYACO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sérgio Silveira to maneuver through the defense. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caicedo Berrondo, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. 7 minutes into the game, Mendoza Joseph was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C.A. GUAYACO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newell´s the free kick. Cristobal Estavan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sérgio Silveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. C.A. GUAYACO's Oso Amezaga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tadeo Jakobe in the 10th minute of play. In the 13th minute Caicedo Berrondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caicedo Berrondo in the 14th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, Cristobal Estavan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Oso Amezaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Bilintx in the 21st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hieronim Faron in the 24th minute of play forced Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sérgio Silveira got free with Cristobal Estavan in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Oso Amezaga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tadeo Jakobe, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 29 minutes into the match, C.A. Jorge Freitas hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mendoza Joseph to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Mendoza Joseph came free, but Cristobal Estavan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Mendoza Joseph heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 56th minute Sérgio Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristobal Estavan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the game, Omar Cordara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Oso Amezaga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caicedo Berrondo, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After some careless play in the C.A. GUAYACO defense, Omar Cordara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Oso Amezaga. The C.A. GUAYACO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Oso Amezaga should have stopped the shot. Cristobal Estavan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sérgio Silveira in the 70th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amancio Bilintx in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oso Amezaga saved C.A. GUAYACO from getting behind. Oso Amezaga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Omar Cordara in the 77th minute. With a little luck, C.A. GUAYACO's Oso Amezaga got control of the ball when Tadeo Jakobe tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Tadeo Jakobe took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Oso Amezaga to make any attempt to save it. C.A. GUAYACO made a substitution. Carlos Alberto Simão replaced Mateo Coviella. After having played for 83 minutes, Omar Cordara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newell´s's supporters crossed their fingers, but Omar Cordara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 84 minutes into the match, C.A. GUAYACO's goal looked a bit too open when Amancio Bilintx came free, but Oso Amezaga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 85 played minutes Newell´s got a freekick which was hit by Faustino Maura. Tadeo Jakobe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Oso Amezaga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Newell´s had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
