The audience thought a goal was coming when Agne Finman got free with Holger Vester in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Catholic Church's Henrik Ingemarsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ola Bremming in the 10th minute of play. When Tomas Odman came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Catholic Church fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Odman couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Hammarby IF booed when Catholic Church was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Winnicki didn't get a good kick on the ball. Henrik Ingemarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celedonio Dominguez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Hammarby IF's Celedonio Dominguez in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Holger Vester made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agne Finman in the 29th minute. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Celedonio Dominguez put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Henrik Ingemarsson. Henrik Ingemarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francesco Totti in the 41st minute of play. After 42 played minutes Catholic Church got a freekick which was hit by Agne Finman. In the 43rd match minute, Catholic Church was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bo-Erik Östensson to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Catholic Church's zone, Isaltino Paes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henrik Ingemarsson came out of the goal and Isaltino Paes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute Edgar Winnicki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Holger Vester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Hammarby IF were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Celedonio Dominguez made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Agne Finman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Holger Vester was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Holger Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edgar Winnicki, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Jonas Hök came free with the goalkeeper in the 64th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Henrik Ingemarsson could save by the left post. Tomas Odman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Holger Vester having to interfere. With his leg Henrik Ingemarsson managed to avoid a goal in the 70thth minute, when Hammarby IF's Francesco Totti fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Jonas Hök got a free kick in the 71st minute. In the 75th minute Celedonio Dominguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrik Ingemarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Catholic Church booed when Hammarby IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ola Bremming didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hammarby IF's Karl-Johan Sundén was substituted for Francesco Totti. Catholic Church's Agne Finman couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 79th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Hammarby IF. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gösta Söderberg in the 85th minute of play forced Catholic Church's goalkeeper Henrik Ingemarsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Frans Mossberg got a free kick in the 90th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gösta Söderberg got free with Henrik Ingemarsson in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd minute Jonas Hök shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrik Ingemarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henrik Ingemarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gösta Söderberg in the 98th minute of play. The Hammarby IF players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
