Jack Glanselius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celedonio Dominguez in the 6th minute of the match. In the 10th minute of the match Real Södertälje got a corner. Hammarby IF's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reynaldo Cerezo ran over to the corner to take the kick. 11 minutes into the game, Real Södertälje's Markus Svensson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Holger Vester made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Jack Glanselius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Dominguez in the 13th minute of play. Holger Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Markus Svensson, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute Urki Regalado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Holger Vester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Urki Regalado might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Holger Vester. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Urki Regalado ran back to his position shaking his head. Markus Svensson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Holger Vester read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Markus Svensson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Holger Vester. Hammarby IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Markus Svensson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and James Batistuta made a kick off.
