FC Maci -MM- were furious when Iordache Mortu was red carded, 4 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 5th minute, Iordache Mortu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Sorin Nicorici got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Avram Terzian hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Cristinel Uncheşelu hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Sorin Nicorici's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nechifor Savin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. The supporters of PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca booed when FC Maci -MM- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doru Opincaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Virgil Jupân made a precise shot to the right of Nechifor Savin. FC Maci -MM-'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Gelu Agârbiceanu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vlad Covrig. That made the score 1-1 in the 18 minute of play. A collision led to PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Lucian Şimonca hit a great ball. Gelu Agârbiceanu struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Vlad Covrig didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Maci -MM-. 25 minutes into the game, Virgil Jupân cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Nechifor Savin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 28 minutes into the match, FC Maci -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Olimpiu Fecioru came free, but Nechifor Savin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 29 minutes, Eugen Spoială mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Maci -MM- and the PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolae Pădureanu in the 35th minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Vlad Covrig to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Virgil Jupân charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Virgil Jupân the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Maci -MM- booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgil Jupân didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nicolae Pădureanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the game, Olimpiu Fecioru cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Nechifor Savin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nechifor Savin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olimpiu Fecioru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 52 minutes, Gelu Agârbiceanu made it 2-3 with a short kick to the right side. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Vlad Covrig tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Vlad Covrig showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugen Spoială, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 61st minute, Calistrat Şerbănescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lucian Şimonca hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, FC Maci -MM-'s Gelu Agârbiceanu tried to score from far away in the 64th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Nechifor Savin didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 66th minute, which inside left pole to 2-4. Nechifor Savin didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Virgil Jupân shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-5 in the ordered_time% minute. After 74 played minutes PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Calistrat Şerbănescu. Nechifor Savin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Olimpiu Fecioru in the 76th minute. Ovidiu Agulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Nechifor Savin came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Virgil Jupân. But to his dismay, Virgil Jupân quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-6. Gelu Agârbiceanu took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vlad Covrig. Vlad Covrig dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-6. Nechifor Savin was a little too slow when Virgil Jupân got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 3-7. After 89 played minutes PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Cristinel Uncheşelu. In the 92nd minute, Calistrat Şerbănescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Maci -MM-'s Nicolae Pădureanu got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Gelu Agârbiceanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
