Liviu Răuţă scored 0-1 in the 4th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vlad Covrig, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 10th match minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgil Jupân to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to -BZF- Barca de Buzau getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Emanuel Hristea hit a great ball. The supporters of -BZF- Barca de Buzau booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Golo Phoenix didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's zone, Sebastian Purje stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vlad Covrig came out of the goal and Sebastian Purje tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 29 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Purje came free, but Vlad Covrig reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th match minute, -BZF- Barca de Buzau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iulian Taşcu to maneuver through the defense. Lucian Şimonca kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Mircea Jupân got a free kick in the 44th minute. When Mircea Jupân fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's protests and gave Mircea Jupân a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Mircea Jupân got a free kick in the 46th minute.

63 minutes had been played when some careless play by PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Basarab Achimescu was slow to take the kick. During this time -BZF- Barca de Buzau's players had a chance to rest. Mircea Jupân got his second yellow card in the match during the 64th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of -BZF- Barca de Buzau booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mircea Jupân didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Basarab Achimescu came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the -BZF- Barca de Buzau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basarab Achimescu couldn't finish the play. Horaţiu Nițoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiberiu Rotariu, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 71st minute, Sorin Nicorici hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vlad Covrig made an important save on a dangerous shot by Iulian Taşcu in the 72nd minute. Vlad Covrig made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Iulian Taşcu sent off a good shot on target. In the 76th match minute, -BZF- Barca de Buzau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iulian Taşcu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Golo Phoenix in the 81st minute of play forced -BZF- Barca de Buzau's goalkeeper Horaţiu Nițoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iulian Taşcu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Vlad Covrig made a huge save. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Cristinel Uncheşelu got a free kick in the 93rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ovidiu Pătrașcu in the 95th minute of play forced PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goalkeeper Vlad Covrig to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 96 minutes, Cristinel Uncheşelu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca and the -BZF- Barca de Buzau players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 96th minute of the game. One of PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of -BZF- Barca de Buzau:s goal. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca:s Vlad Covrig showed great skill when he stopped Iulian Taşcu:s penalty. After 97 minutes of play, -BZF- Barca de Buzau's Iulian Taşcu made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vlad Covrig was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched -BZF- Barca de Buzau eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
