Marcel Mallinger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Mansilha in the 2nd minute of the match. Marcel Mallinger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Mansilha, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After a rather tough play, FV Wienerwald's Felix Hanschirik got a free kick in the 10th minute. FV Wienerwald's Marcel Mallinger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joachim Kretschmer in the 11th minute of play. Marcel Mallinger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gary Lineker in the 14th minute of play. In the 37th minute of the match, Andreas Trautermann got a very nice opportunity to score, but Paul Heyckendorf was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 38th minute of the match FV Wienerwald got a corner. Academica Pulheim's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ralf Szüczs ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 44th match minute, FV Wienerwald was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kim Rehmer to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th match minute, Academica Pulheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kurt Ahrem to maneuver through the defense. When Ole Pankok fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academica Pulheim's protests and gave Ole Pankok a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FV Wienerwald booed when Academica Pulheim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ole Pankok didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Academica Pulheim's zone, Hamilton Carvalhal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Heyckendorf came out of the goal and Hamilton Carvalhal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hamilton Carvalhal to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Hamilton Carvalhal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Heyckendorf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Mallinger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Ahrem in the 59th minute of play. Kurt Ahrem might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcel Mallinger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kurt Ahrem ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 68th minute, Justus Sandkühler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FV Wienerwald made a substitution. Célio Nogueira replaced Anfilogino Alfonsi. Justus Sandkühler kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. 1-0 became the score in the 73rd minute when Ralf Szüczs elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. FV Wienerwald made a substitution. Klaus Adolphi replaced Andreas Trautermann. Klaus Adolphi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Paul Heyckendorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Felix Hanschirik got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With 89 minutes on the clock, Reinhard Baum commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 88th minute, one of Academica Pulheim:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Academica Pulheim. Zbigniew Setara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcel Mallinger having to interfere. Per Nienhaus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Maxime Vrints scored 1-1 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcel Mallinger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
