SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 5th minute of play. Andriy Lunin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benedikt Bensch in the 7th minute. Gigel Elenescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andriy Lunin having to interfere. Zé Paulo da Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Andriy Lunin made a huge save. Andriy Lunin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 19th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilhelm Nienhaus got free with Andriy Lunin in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Zé Paulo da Silva came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Hertha 1969 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Paulo da Silva couldn't finish the play. In the 32nd minute, Hertha 1969's Wilhelm Nienhaus dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V. made a substitution. Chen Zhen replaced Steffen Michalsky. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nisar Burkart in the 41st minute of play. Zé Paulo da Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Andriy Lunin made a huge save. With a little luck, SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s Andriy Lunin got control of the ball when Kristian Oswald tried to sneak it across the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nisar Burkart made a kick off. Kristian Oswald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 50th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andriy Lunin having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nisar Burkart. 57 minutes into the game, Nisar Burkart recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rune Jarstein. Nisar Burkart showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Ziemowit Tscherner made in the 60th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Emilio Melzer. Moritz Hasenjäger kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. 65 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goal looked a bit too open when Saltuk Askeroğlu came free, but Rune Jarstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andriy Lunin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Melzer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Hertha 1969 defense, Saltuk Askeroğlu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rune Jarstein. The Hertha 1969 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rune Jarstein should have stopped the shot. Rune Jarstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eustaquio Brufau in the 84th minute. In the 85th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andriy Lunin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s zone, Wilhelm Nienhaus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andriy Lunin came out of the goal and Wilhelm Nienhaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SC Freiburg 1904 e.V.'s supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
