The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Olympique Fribourg's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Schroeder in the 5th minute. After 11 minutes of play, Fire Devils's Edmílson Gaúcho made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tristan Arioli was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 20th match minute, Olympique Fribourg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcellus Walpert to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the match, Olympique Fribourg's goal looked a bit too open when Iosif Vornic came free, but Tristan Arioli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 24th minute Fire Devils were awarded a corner. Narcis Druță went to the cornerflag to take it. Narcis Druță made a great header on Fire Devils's corner, it was just that Olympique Fribourg's Tristan Arioli managed to reach the ball for a save. Narcis Druță hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Odysseus Lindenmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raik Topuz, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After some careless play in the Olympique Fribourg defense, Edmílson Gaúcho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tristan Arioli. The Olympique Fribourg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tristan Arioli should have stopped the shot. Tristan Arioli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Arne Bengtsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Matt Metzger fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympique Fribourg's protests and gave Matt Metzger a yellow card for diving instead. Matt Metzger hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 45th minute, Raik Topuz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Odysseus Lindenmann. The goal made the score 2-2. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Florian Plouffe in the 55th minute of play forced Fire Devils's goalkeeper Odysseus Lindenmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th minute, Remo Pürro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edmílson Gaúcho in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tristan Arioli, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 58th match minute, Olympique Fribourg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo Pürro to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Olympique Fribourg getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Marcellus Walpert hit a great ball. Olympique Fribourg's Tristan Arioli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Gaúcho in the 61st minute of play. Dariusz Nalaskowski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Tristan Arioli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sven-Arne Bengtsson came free with the goalkeeper in the 68th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Tristan Arioli could save by the left post. 79 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Raik Topuz came free, but Odysseus Lindenmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fire Devils's Odysseus Lindenmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florian Plouffe in the 81st minute of play. The supporters of Olympique Fribourg booed when Fire Devils was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Kalnik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fire Devils's Odysseus Lindenmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Schroeder in the 83rd minute of play. After 84 minutes Fire Devils's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Schroeder who took care of the corner kick. In the 91st minute Iosif Vornic shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tristan Arioli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Odysseus Lindenmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florian Plouffe in the 97th minute of the match. The Olympique Fribourg fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Fire Devils were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
