The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Eleuterio Milian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 9th minute Eleuterio Milian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Lastur saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Argentinos Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leon Richie to maneuver through the defense. Rigoberto Nazario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martin Asier in the 15th minute of the match. Sven de Zwaan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Leopoldo Lastur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Argentinos Juniors getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Roberto Trotta hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicanor Florinio in the 25th minute of play forced Argentinos Juniors's goalkeeper Rigoberto Nazario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Leones FC booed when Argentinos Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leon Richie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wilfredo Quinto came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Rigoberto Nazario could save by the left post. The nice shot from Wilfredo Quinto in the 28thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Rigoberto Nazario had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Leones FC's Leopoldo Lastur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven de Zwaan in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petruț Fințescu in the 31st minute of play forced Leones FC's goalkeeper Leopoldo Lastur to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eleuterio Milian succeeded in the game's 36th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. Leopoldo Lastur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruperto Matei, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Argentinos Juniors were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Leones FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mats Falch took the corner. Argentinos Juniors's Mats Falch was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Leopoldo Lastur in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 45 minutes into the match, Leones FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sven de Zwaan came free, but Leopoldo Lastur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Leones FC's zone, Ruperto Matei stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Lastur came out of the goal and Ruperto Matei tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Petruț Fințescu to make the kick off. Rigoberto Nazario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicanor Florinio in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Argentinos Juniors's Sven de Zwaan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Leopoldo Lastur. Leopoldo Lastur yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Leopoldo Lastur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eleuterio Milian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute, Petruț Fințescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Argentinos Juniors fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. 65 minutes into the match, Petruț Fințescu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Leopoldo Lastur, 0-4. In the 68th minute, Denis Mero got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 0-5 became the score in the 72nd minute when Bartlomiej Mosiniak elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After having played for 75 minutes, Petruț Fințescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Argentinos Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Petruț Fințescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Denis Mero could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Leopoldo Lastur made a huge save. Leopoldo Lastur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petruț Fințescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 87 minutes into the match, Leones FC's goalkeeper Leopoldo Lastur had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sven de Zwaan. Leones FC's Leopoldo Lastur proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Leones FC from getting a goal against them.
