Telmo Madureira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Vianna in the 8th minute of the match. In the 16th minute, Haroldo Sanches ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliseu Tasso was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 19th match minute, Encanto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Valladares to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Encanto defense, Haroldo Sanches kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eliseu Tasso. The Encanto fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eliseu Tasso should have stopped the shot. The supporters of E.C 2 Janeiro RS booed when Encanto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chicão Valle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo Sanches fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliseu Tasso having to interfere. Encanto's Eliseu Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Sanches in the 34th minute of play. Valdomiro Souto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Telmo Madureira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Haroldo Sanches sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. E.C 2 Janeiro RS's defense didn't have a chance, in the 44th minute, when Manuel Vianna scored to the left of an out of position Telmo Madureira, making the score, 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Laerte Dante charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Laerte Dante the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.
