In the 13thth minute of the game Tomás Passos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Breno Pernambucano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cafu Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Breno Pernambucano having to interfere. 29 minutes into the game, Wanderson Valadares recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Breno Pernambucano. Wanderson Valadares showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. If Alberto Couto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute Wanderson Valadares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Breno Pernambucano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Lenílson Travassos hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulinho Souto to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Paulinho Souto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kaká Lopes. Kaká Lopes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. 58 minutes into the match, Paulinho Souto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kaká Lopes. Jenipapo SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulinho Souto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After 62 minutes, Ulisses Alves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ and the Jenipapo SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jenipapo SC's João Paulo Reis was substituted for Tomás Passos. After 63 played minutes ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ got a freekick which was hit by Ulisses Alves. Kaká Lopes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulinho Souto in the 66th minute. ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙'s Breno Pernambucano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wanderson Valadares in the 79th minute of play. After some careless play in the ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ defense, Wanderson Valadares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Breno Pernambucano. The ♙Fluminense Campéon 23♙ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Breno Pernambucano should have stopped the shot. Jenipapo SC's Wanderson Valadares got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Breno Pernambucano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cafu Catarinense in the 92nd minute of play.
