Octávio Moita was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. SC Braga's Octávio Moita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Perivaldo Figueiredo in the 13th minute of play. In the 16th minute of the match, Álvaro Malheiro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cacá Sousa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Adhemar Pinho put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Octávio Moita. In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Braga fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 21st minute. Penalty! After a rather tough play, Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Alex Gonçalves got a free kick in the 28th minute. Octávio Moita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Pinho in the 31st minute of play. If Deivid Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice moves Jesualdo Sacramento could shoot a difficult shot in the 38th minute, which Cacá Sousa however easily saved by the left post. João Vítor Tasso hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Jesualdo Sacramento managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Braga's supporters rose to their feet, but Jesualdo Sacramento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cacá Sousa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Deivid Moreira got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adhemar Pinho made a kick off. After 51 minutes of play, Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Adhemar Pinho made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Octávio Moita was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ booed when SC Braga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Paixão didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 64th minute, Perivaldo Figueiredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in SC Braga's zone, Deivid Moreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Octávio Moita came out of the goal and Deivid Moreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 72nd minute, Samuel Ferraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Egídio Paixão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Cacá Sousa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adhemar Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's Egídio Paixão got a free kick in the 82nd minute. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Vítor Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alexandrino Bessa was slow to take the kick. During this time SC Braga's players had a chance to rest. 94 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar Pinho came free, but Octávio Moita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 96th minute, Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Adhemar Pinho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Octávio Moita. Octávio Moita yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-6. Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
