Giuseppe Lara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademir Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. After 16 played minutes Galo do Japi got a freekick which was hit by Luciano do Nascimento. César Alagoano charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed César Alagoano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Luís Madureira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giuseppe Lara having to interfere. When Dalmo Rocha fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nova Iguaçu MZFC's protests and gave Dalmo Rocha a yellow card for diving instead. After 25 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Dalmo Rocha. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Telmo Barbosa in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benedito Nóbrega prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Telmo Barbosa got free with Benedito Nóbrega in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Telmo Barbosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Benedito Nóbrega made a huge save. Dalmo Rochas short, quick shot in the 34thth minute got Benedito Nóbrega to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Galo do Japi's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Telmo Barbosa 36 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Dalmo Rocha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benedito Nóbrega. That made the score 4-0 in the 45 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dalmo Rocha to strike the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Batista. Benedito Nóbrega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Alagoano in the 57th minute of play. After 58 minutes Galo do Japi's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Guilherme Mandrak who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Guilherme Mandrak to fire away a dangerous shot which Benedito Nóbrega despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dalmo Rocha in the 60th minute of play forced Galo do Japi's goalkeeper Benedito Nóbrega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benedito Nóbrega stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dalmo Rocha's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. 64 minutes into the match, Galo do Japi's goal looked a bit too open when Gernando Mineiro came free, but Benedito Nóbrega reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Telmo Barbosa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benedito Nóbrega made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. Nova Iguaçu MZFC made a substitution. Murilo Urbano replaced Guilherme Mandrak. Nova Iguaçu MZFC had played much better football throughout.
