The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Humberto Xavier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from László Medgyesi in the 20th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Róbert Vajda made a precise shot to the right of Humberto Xavier. Brasilino's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Sándor Jászberényi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murilo Pena in the 32nd minute of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aírton Nóbrega to make the kick off.
