If 邱义庭 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16th minute 孔磊傲 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 胡远夕 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stein Spoelberch made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ed Delamore in the 17th minute. When Ed Delamore came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the 安徽天柱俱乐部队 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ed Delamore couldn't finish the play. 20 minutes into the match, Club Brugge's goalkeeper Stein Spoelberch had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ed Delamore. Ed Delamore could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Stein Spoelberch made a huge save. In the 29th minute of the match, Ed Delamore got a very nice opportunity to score, but Stein Spoelberch was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Stein Spoelberch stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 邱义庭's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Ed Delamore could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Stein Spoelberch made a huge save. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 邱义庭 in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stein Spoelberch prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Club Brugge's King Eken got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by 邱义庭 in the 91st minute of play forced Club Brugge's goalkeeper Stein Spoelberch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
