The goal made the score 1-0. After 7 minutes Club Brugge's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Saul Felo who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Palermo's corner Saul Felo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stein Spoelberch quite easily take care of the ball. Şevket Çağa's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Victorino Francis firmly grabbed it by the left post. Stein Spoelberch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximino Gonzalez in the 10th minute of play. In the 10th minute Arnoldo Medina suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Palermo's Jhonny Del Fierro was substituted for Arnoldo Medina. Hector Bellerin hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Victorino Francis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Şevket Çağa in the 13th minute. Victorino Francis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Vander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17thth minute of the game Santiago Mino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santiago Mino in the 25th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Maximino Gonzalez got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 33rd minute Palermo were awarded a corner. Saul Felo went to the cornerflag to take it. Victorino Francis made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Şevket Çağa sent off a good shot on target. The Palermo fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Palermo's Santiago Mino looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for 孔磊傲 to strike the kick off in the second half. Victorino Francis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 孔磊傲 in the 60th minute of play. Palermo's Jhonny Del Fierro got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Victorino Francis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Stein Spoelberch made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Jhonny Del Fierro sent off a good shot on target. After 96 played minutes Club Brugge got a freekick which was hit by Brent Nelleboedske. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Jhonny Del Fierro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Jhonny Del Fierro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stein Spoelberch breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Club Brugge's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
