When Paulo Soares fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Independente FC's protests and gave Paulo Soares a yellow card for diving instead. Paulo Soares hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Independente FC's Tiago Gabriel Rodrigues got a free kick in the 20th minute. Paulo Renato Souzas short, quick shot in the 21stth minute got Nestor Quintal to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Nestor Quintal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Renato Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Independente FC's goalkeeper Nestor Quintal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Dalmo Rocha took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Nestor Quintal to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dalmo Rocha made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mauro de Salles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Vítor Rodrigues. 58 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Renato Souza came free, but Nestor Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 59th minute, Dalmo Rocha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nestor Quintal was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Zé Carlos Cordeiro was substituted for Anselmo Batista. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Cesinha Cruz was substituted for Vladimir Braga. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Independente FC's goalkeeper Nestor Quintal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In the 83rd minute, Wilson Vidal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nestor Quintal was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Dalmo Rocha scored 5-0 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nestor Quintal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nestor Quintal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmo Rocha in the 91st minute of play. Nestor Quintal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wilson Vidal went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
