Nestor Quintal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilian Antunes in the 26th minute of play. Paulo José Veiga hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Inácio das Neves's late challenge caught a Jovens Democratas MZC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The referee ignored Independente FC's protests and gave Paulo José Veiga a yellow card for diving instead. The shot was a little too simple and Nestor Quintal could save by the left post. The referee felt a red card was in order, 74 minutes into the game, when Edvaldo Tinoco put in a rough tackle. In the 88th minute José Vítor Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marquinhos Diniz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Vítor Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
