The supporters of Red Devils booed when Lemel SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Rivelino didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcel da Rocha in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lin Hong Song saved Lemel SV from getting behind. After having played for 19 minutes, Vinicio Jakes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red Devils's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vinicio Jakes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Braulio Gartxot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manfred Konradsson in the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Red Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Manfred Konradsson came free, but Braulio Gartxot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 42 minutes into the match, Lemel SV's goal looked a bit too open when Marcel da Rocha came free, but Lin Hong Song reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lemel SV's Tomasz Resel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Slawomir Trzaskoma in the 43 minute of the game. Braulio Gartxot made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manfred Konradsson in the 44th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Manfred Konradsson to strike the kick off in the second half. After taking down the ball on Red Devils's corner Sotos Zervoulakos fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Lin Hong Song quite easily take care of the ball. In the 57th minute, Manfred Konradsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the match, Red Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Manfred Konradsson came free, but Braulio Gartxot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Lemel SV's zone, Marcel da Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lin Hong Song came out of the goal and Marcel da Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dennis Bergkamp struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Braulio Gartxot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lemel SV. Tomasz Resel made in the 78th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Claudio Caniggia immediately put the ball in play. A collision led to Lemel SV getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. João Augusto Mello hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcel da Rocha in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lin Hong Song saved Lemel SV from getting behind. Lemel SV's Lin Hong Song proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Lemel SV from getting a goal against them. In the 92nd minute, Marcel da Rocha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Red Devils fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Marcel da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Red Devils's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcel da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lin Hong Song breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
