After a rather tough play, Sporting Savaria's Kálmán Mbappè got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Klas Collin hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Sporting Savaria's Arnold Szuper threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lajos Laczkó, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 13th minute, Sporting Savaria's Lajos Laczkó ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnold Szuper. Arnold Szuper yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Lajos Jakó hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After 21 minutes of play, Szombathely Squirrels's Gusztáv Győrffy made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Márton Gombos was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some careless play in the Sporting Savaria defense, Dénes Boross kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Márton Gombos. The Sporting Savaria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Márton Gombos should have stopped the shot. After having played for 28 minutes, Gusztáv Győrffy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gusztáv Győrffy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Sporting Savaria booed when Szombathely Squirrels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szilárd Csikós didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute of the match Ferenc Beckenbauer shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnold Szuper showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Arnold Szuper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heiki Uustal in the 32nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kálmán Mbappè got free with Arnold Szuper in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 40 minutes of play, Sporting Savaria's Kálmán Mbappè made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnold Szuper was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 44th minute Dénes Boross shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Márton Gombos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dénes Boross stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arnold Szuper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heiki Uustal in the 53rd minute of play. In the 56th minute, Csaba Gyulai hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Kálmán Mbappè had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Dénes Boross's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Márton Gombos was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Csaba Gyulai in the 64th minute of play forced Szombathely Squirrels's goalkeeper Arnold Szuper to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Márton Gombos was out of position in the 80 minute of play, and Gusztáv Győrffy capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gusztáv Győrffy really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Lajos Jakó kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match.
