The audience was convinced that Ulric Donsante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Yanic Kulenovic was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. After 35 played minutes FC Wil 1900 got a freekick which was hit by Isidor Jutzi. A collision led to FC Wil 1900 getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Jarrett Beljean hit a great ball. FC Wil 1900's Yanic Kulenovic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pornsak Seearamrungruang in the 39th minute of play. Nicholas Zollinger kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Yanic Kulenovic showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulric Donsante, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 44th minute, Pornsak Seearamrungruang ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Yanic Kulenovic was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After the first half FC Lugano were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frederic Kuster made a kick off. In the 53rd match minute, FC Lugano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tito Waechter to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stephen Vicente got free with Yanic Kulenovic in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 58th minute, Tiziano Gamache left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Lugano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Yanic Kulenovic took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiziano Gamache, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matteo Gartenmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Lugano's Gauthier Lepre was substituted for Guido Emennegger. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiziano Gamache in the 67th minute of play forced FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Yanic Kulenovic to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiziano Gamache got free with Yanic Kulenovic in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 71 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Tade Zeller. Yanic Kulenovic made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matteo Gartenmann in the 78th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Lugano's Tiziano Gamache slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Yanic Kulenovic. That made the score 0-3 after 80 minutes of play. FC Lugano's Dieter Gärtner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederic Kuster in the 85th minute of play. The supporters of FC Wil 1900 booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gauthier Lepre didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 90th minute, FC Lugano's Stephen Vicente ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Yanic Kulenovic. Yanic Kulenovic yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. Matteo Gartenmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. FC Lugano's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
