The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dieter Gärtner came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Escocia's Facundo Nahas. But to his dismay, Facundo Nahas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Facundo Nahas in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dieter Gärtner prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 11th match minute, Club Atlético Escocia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natalio Oliveiro to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baldomero Inocente in the 17th minute of play forced FC Lugano's goalkeeper Dieter Gärtner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Maximilian Buser got a free kick in the 18th minute. Enrique Astrada was extremely unlucky when he, in the 19th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Ulric Donsante hit a great ball. Dieter Gärtner acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 22nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Lucas Quinto. In the 27th minute of the match, Aquiles Lazcano tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dieter Gärtner saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pornsak Seearamrungruang in the 45th minute of play forced Club Atlético Escocia's goalkeeper Delmiro Iztal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Tito Waechter got a free kick in the 55th minute. Delmiro Iztal made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Ulric Donsante sent off a good shot on target. After 62 played minutes Club Atlético Escocia got a freekick which was hit by Arturo Madaleno. Delmiro Iztal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matteo Gartenmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Tito Waechter managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Lugano's supporters rose to their feet, but Tito Waechter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delmiro Iztal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Club Atlético Escocia's Sebastian Selatse was substituted for Lucas Quinto. FC Lugano's Dieter Gärtner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aquiles Lazcano in the 74th minute of play. After 75 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Pornsak Seearamrungruang. In the 76th minute of the match Sebastian Selatse sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dieter Gärtner skillfully saved the ball. In the 80th minute, Chatmongkon Borvornpattarakomol hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stephen Vicente could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Delmiro Iztal made a huge save. Delmiro Iztal made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Pornsak Seearamrungruang sent off a good shot on target. 94 minutes into the game, Ciriaco Satordi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Atlético Escocia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Lugano the free kick. In the 94th minute, Ciriaco Satordi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Club Atlético Escocia's Delmiro Iztal got control of the ball when Chatmongkon Borvornpattarakomol tried to sneak it across the goal line.
