In the 10th minute Emanuel Finteșteanu suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Manuel Văcaru's late challenge caught a FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Văcaru helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, THE CRYSTAL SHIP's Manuel Văcaru got a free kick in the 11th minute. After 13 played minutes FC UNIREA Alba Iulia got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Bărbânță. Karl-Ove Andersson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dinu Iureș in the 18th minute. When THE CRYSTAL SHIP's Toader Babeș in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goalie prevented a goal. FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's Karl-Ove Andersson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toader Babeș in the 26th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's goalkeeper Karl-Ove Andersson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dan Eftimiu. Toader Babeș's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 29thth minute, Karl-Ove Andersson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 30 played minutes THE CRYSTAL SHIP got a freekick which was hit by Gavril Pânzaru. In the 33rd minute Toader Babeș shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl-Ove Andersson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to FC UNIREA Alba Iulia getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Tudor Bărbânță hit a great ball. Alin Agud kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Mugurel Moculescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tudor Bărbânță in the 39th minute of play. When the match clock showed 41 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Toader Babeș sped through FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Karl-Ove Andersson. 46 minutes into the game, Gigel Câmpeanu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC UNIREA Alba Iulia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave THE CRYSTAL SHIP the free kick. Gigel Câmpeanu kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tudor Bărbânță stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Karl-Ove Andersson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toader Babeș in the 50th minute of play. Karl-Ove Andersson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toader Babeș, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Karl-Ove Andersson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Toader Babeș's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. Avram Nițoi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Karl-Ove Andersson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 64 played minutes FC UNIREA Alba Iulia got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Bărbânță. Karl-Ove Andersson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dan Eftimiu in the 66th minute of play. THE CRYSTAL SHIP's Mugurel Moculescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save THE CRYSTAL SHIP from getting a goal against them. In the 71st match minute, FC UNIREA Alba Iulia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tudor Bărbânță to maneuver through the defense. Toader Babeș fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl-Ove Andersson having to interfere.
