Herbert Pietrowicz made in the 12th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ümit Karan immediately put the ball in play. Olavarria FC's Isaias Matas got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Michel Hendrickx didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guido Vissenaeken went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Isaias Matas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vítor Baia having to make a save. Vítor Baia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaias Matas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Brugge United defense, Isaias Matas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vítor Baia. The Brugge United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vítor Baia should have stopped the shot. In the 26th match minute, Brugge United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guido Vissenaeken to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isaias Matas in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vítor Baia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Thys Lenoir kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Guido Vissenaeken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michel Hendrickx having to interfere. In the 44th match minute, Olavarria FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isaias Matas to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute, Isaias Matas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Olavarria FC made a substitution. Ervigio Ojeda replaced Isaias Matas. Olavarria FC's Thys Lenoir quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Herbert Pietrowicz, made in the 72nd minute of the game. Olavarria FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mauro Kotlar in the 78th minute. The corner ended in Mauro Kotlar almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Brugge United's Vítor Baia did a great save. Brugge United's Vítor Baia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ervigio Ojeda in the 82nd minute of play. After having played for 85 minutes, Arnauld Van Impe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brugge United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnauld Van Impe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 88th minute, Ervigio Ojeda ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vítor Baia was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Brugge United's Sandro Gaúcho managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Thys Lenoir in the 91 minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Arnauld Van Impe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Brugge United's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnauld Van Impe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michel Hendrickx breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 92 minutes, Michel Hendrickx successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Arnauld Van Impe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Michel Hendrickx made a huge save. In the 96thth minute of the game Ervigio Ojeda who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brugge United's Vítor Baia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 98th minute Olavarria FC were awarded a corner. Mauro Kotlar went to the cornerflag to take it. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
