Fabien Barthez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kris Tetley, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Stickleback Utd Xl's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jonathan Porter in the 31st minute. Stickleback Utd Xl's Jonathan Porter was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Fabien Barthez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jonathan Porter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Fabien Barthez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Egg Chasers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Porter came free, but Fabien Barthez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 47 minutes Egg Chasers FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jonathan Porter who took care of the corner kick. The Egg Chasers FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Stickleback Utd Xl were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Darryl Howlett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Kris Tetley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonny Wilkinson kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. The long shot by Jonathan Porter in the 54th minute really tested Fabien Barthez's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Martin Giöck came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Egg Chasers FC's Peter Crouch. But to his dismay, Peter Crouch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Fabien Barthez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kris Tetley went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After 64 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Stickleback Utd Xl! The referee gave Egg Chasers FC a penalty, 67 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Rex Wall, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Stickleback Utd Xl's Martin Giöck. 2-2. Fabien Barthez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darryl Howlett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 71 minutes into the match, Darryl Howlett notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Egg Chasers FC's Fabien Barthez. Fabien Barthez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Darryl Howlett's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabien Barthez was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Egg Chasers FC's Damian Stonehouse got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Jonathan Porter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Darryl Howlett could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Fabien Barthez made a huge save. Fabien Barthez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benji Browne in the 97th minute. Egg Chasers FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
