In the 16th match minute, Club Getafe Deportivo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iosu Bastida to maneuver through the defense. Valencia C.F.'s Guillermo Farré shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 16th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jairo Castellano but with some difficulty. Jairo Castellano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joe Herring in the 21st minute of the match. Jerry Lodge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curcio Carballeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 28 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Curcio Carballeira came free, but Jerry Lodge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jerry Lodge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curcio Carballeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 39 played minutes Club Getafe Deportivo got a freekick which was hit by Xabat Dobale. Jairo Castellano made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Joe Herring sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st minute Curcio Carballeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerry Lodge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Joe Herring made the kick off in the second half. Valencia C.F.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Curcio Carballeira scored to the left of an out of position Jerry Lodge, making the score, 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Curcio Carballeira got free with Jerry Lodge in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 65 minutes into the game, one of Club Getafe Deportivo:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After some careless play in the Club Getafe Deportivo defense, Joe Herring kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jairo Castellano. The Club Getafe Deportivo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jairo Castellano should have stopped the shot. Club Getafe Deportivo made a substitution. Vlad Ţăranu replaced Henrico Del Bosque. Curcio Carballeira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jerry Lodge having to make a save. After 79 played minutes Curcio Carballeira rounded Valencia C.F.'s defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-3. If Curcio Carballeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Valencia C.F.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Guillermo Farré in the 90th minute. Valencia C.F.'s Jerry Lodge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Valencia C.F. from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded Club Getafe Deportivo left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Valencia C.F..
