In the 44th minute Alvaro Raymond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arcadio Buendia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Mané Garrincha came free, but Fernando Selatse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leon Goretzka to make the kick off. Despidida AFC's Emanuel Lucila quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Bernardino Lohitzun, made in the 55th minute of the game.
