In the 10th match minute, Atlético Micaelense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Águas to maneuver through the defense. In the 11th minute of the match Ermegildo Benitez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gervásio Sousa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Zein Tutupoli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Klaus Van Mellart in the 13th minute. The audience was convinced that Fernan Herauso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gervásio Sousa was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. 17 minutes into the match, Gaviotas FC's goalkeeper Zein Tutupoli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Palmiro Bettencourt. After a rather tough play, Atlético Micaelense's Palmiro Osório got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the game, Fernan Herauso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Gervásio Sousa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Gaviotas FC booed when Atlético Micaelense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrei Marioara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gervásio Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Pueblo in the 29th minute of the match. Gaviotas FC were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Atlético Micaelense's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ermegildo Benitez took the corner. In the 32ndth minute of the game Fernan Herauso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlético Micaelense's Gervásio Sousa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Inocencio Patxi kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After 44 played minutes Atlético Micaelense got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Águas. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gaviotas FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Micaelense the free kick. When Klaus Van Mellart came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Atlético Micaelense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klaus Van Mellart couldn't finish the play. The Gaviotas FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
