Dida Taffarel stood somewhat misplaced when Edu Carvalho came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 46 minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Felippe Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Taffarel having to interfere. Dida Taffarel came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Edu Carvalho. But to his dismay, Edu Carvalho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when German Cano got free with Hansjörg Wastl in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edu Carvalho in the 89th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Luís Fabiano Sena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dida Taffarel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ booed when Marquês de Herval was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moussa Kabre didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute of the match Naldo Valladares sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dida Taffarel skillfully saved the ball.
