Armindo Salgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Pacheco, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Armindo Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute of the match, Joaquim de Barros got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jeremy Nicholas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgardo Silva to make the kick off. New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shao Kun Yuan in the 56th minute of play. The VB-Team fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Antonio Valente kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. VB-Team's Traian Hăvârneanu was substituted for Joaquim de Barros. The supporters of VB-Team booed when New England Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Valente didn't get a good kick on the ball. New England Minas's Zachery Church was substituted for Ye Gang Cheng. Jeremy Nicholas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Caeiro in the 77th minute of play. New England Minas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tio Lio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. New England Minas walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
