In the 42nd minute of the match, Franz-Josef Puyol got a very nice opportunity to score, but Manfredo Silveira was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robinho Teixeira to make the kick off.
