In the 43rd minute of the match Paulo Renato Maciel sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gianluigi Donnarumma skillfully saved the ball. After 45 minutes, Waldir Aguiar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Juventudes Libertárias and the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul players grew even worse after the yellow card. Waldir Aguiar hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Ladislao Mazurkiewiczs short, quick shot in the 47thth minute got Davi Amorim to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ladislao Mazurkiewicz to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Juventudes Libertárias got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Renato Maciel. Davi Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leopoldo Sanches went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. If Tony Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. During the 61st minute of the match Ivo Mello completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Ivo Mello a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After recieving a nice pass, Juventudes Libertárias's Paulo Renato Maciel tried to score from far away in the 63rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Luís Meirelles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gianluigi Donnarumma having to interfere. Davi Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 76th minute of play. In the 79th match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Komen Grama to maneuver through the defense. Juventudes Libertárias's Waldir Aguiar shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 80th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gianluigi Donnarumma but with some difficulty. Thanks to some nice moves Tony Proença could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Gianluigi Donnarumma however easily saved by the left post. Tony Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Many of Juventudes Libertárias's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Juventudes Libertárias may have spent more time on the ball, but S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
