Caxias do Sul and the MarquinhosEC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Zé Carlos Barbosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Carlos Barbosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Murillo de Sena sped through S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gianluigi Donnarumma. In the 15th minute, Ricardinho Moraes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 19th minute of the match, Zé Carlos Barbosa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gianluigi Donnarumma saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Clemente Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 21st minute of the match. Tiago Cruz hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Komen Grama sped through MarquinhosEC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Clemente Varela. The supporters of MarquinhosEC booed when S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Komen Grama didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 40th minute, Ladislao Mazurkiewicz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.E.R. Caxias do Sul fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Gianluigi Donnarumma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulisses Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Umberto Moura kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Leopoldo Sanches broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Clemente Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Mazurkiewicz in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Komen Grama made a precise shot to the right of Clemente Varela. MarquinhosEC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. In the 62nd match minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joélson Paraibano to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, MarquinhosEC's Tiago Cruz got a free kick in the 69th minute. Marco Boldrini kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Komen Grama might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Clemente Varela. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Komen Grama ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 75th minute, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Gabriel França seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gabriel França the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gabriel França had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 74th minute of the game. One of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of MarquinhosEC:s goal. Alfredo Loyola scored 2-3 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Matorin in the 79th minute of play. After 80 minutes, Ivo Mello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the S.E.R. Caxias do Sul and the MarquinhosEC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 81st minute of the match Alfredo Loyola sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gianluigi Donnarumma skillfully saved the ball. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Matorin in the 96th minute of play. Although MarquinhosEC had been in control for most of the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul still came away with the win.
