The supporters of LOBO 1908 booed when MONTANHA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdemar de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the match, MONTANHA's goal looked a bit too open when Cipriano Rosado came free, but Sílvio Sarmento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdomiro Oliveira kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Sílvio Sarmento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano Rosado in the 14th minute of play. Tostão Munhoz scored 1-0 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manfredo Silveira, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 22 minutes, Leopoldo de Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MONTANHA and the LOBO 1908 players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leopoldo de Azevedo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 23rd minute Cipriano Rosado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Sarmento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sílvio Sarmento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remo Maranhense in the 25th minute of play. Manfredo Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdomiro Valladares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nilton Pinho hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cipriano Rosado in the 31st minute of play forced MONTANHA's goalkeeper Sílvio Sarmento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cipriano Rosado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With his leg Manfredo Silveira managed to avoid a goal in the 38thth minute, when MONTANHA's Nilton Pinho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cipriano Rosado in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sílvio Sarmento saved MONTANHA from getting behind. Manfredo Silveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tostão Munhoz in the 43rd minute. A collision led to MONTANHA getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Valdomiro Oliveira hit a great ball. Valdemar de Amaral hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 53rdth minute of the game Cipriano Rosado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but MONTANHA's Sílvio Sarmento was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by MONTANHA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tostão Quadros was slow to take the kick. During this time LOBO 1908's players had a chance to rest. Valdomiro Valladares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. MONTANHA's Sílvio Sarmento proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save MONTANHA from getting a goal against them. 67 minutes into the match, MONTANHA's goalkeeper Sílvio Sarmento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cipriano Rosado. MONTANHA were furious when Renatinho Sousa was red carded, 70 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 70th minute, one of MONTANHA:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for MONTANHA. After 91 played minutes MONTANHA got a freekick which was hit by Valdemar de Amaral. In the 92nd minute of the match Tostão Quadros sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sílvio Sarmento skillfully saved the ball. Renan Lago hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Manfredo Silveira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tostão Munhoz's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. 97 minutes into the match, MONTANHA's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldo Linhares came free, but Sílvio Sarmento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
