Samuel Fiúza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Venancio Unai in the 3rd minute of the match. Gremio Viana's Samuel Fiúza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Venancio Unai in the 3rd minute of play. Arsenal were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after Gremio Viana's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Julio Gonzales took the corner. Arsenal's Julio Gonzales was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Samuel Fiúza in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Mano in the 9th minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jiang De in the 12th minute of play forced Arsenal's goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Arsenal booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mariusz Lamczyk didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gremio Viana's Tony Påk got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 19th minute, Gremio Viana's Jiang De ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Emiliano Martínez. Emiliano Martínez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After having played for 24 minutes, Utha Wiranatakusumah managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arsenal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Utha Wiranatakusumah was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Arsenal's goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jiang De. Emiliano Martínez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jiang De in the 32nd minute. Cayetano Vela hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Emiliano Martínez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jiang De, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jiang De in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emiliano Martínez saved Arsenal from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Arsenal's zone, Tony Påk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emiliano Martínez came out of the goal and Tony Påk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julio Gonzales in the 47th minute of play forced Gremio Viana's goalkeeper Samuel Fiúza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jiang De made a kick off. Gremio Viana's Amado Melo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Fermin Millano in the 52 minute of the game. In the 59th minute Tony Påk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emiliano Martínez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arsenal made a substitution. Malin Pušķis replaced Venancio Unai. Gremio Viana's Carlos Luna was substituted for Jiang De. In the 67th minute of the match Gremio Viana got a corner. Arsenal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Augustin Panaiteanu ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Augustin Panaiteanu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Emiliano Martínez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 69 played minutes Arsenal got a freekick which was hit by Utha Wiranatakusumah. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ke Zhi Jian in the 71st minute of play forced Arsenal's goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ke Zhi Jian in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emiliano Martínez saved Arsenal from getting behind. Samuel Fiúza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerardo Mano in the 73rd minute. Samuel Fiúza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Malin Pušķis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Tony Påk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gremio Viana's Mohamed Ali Bomba was substituted for Severino Torcato. In the 84th match minute, Arsenal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victorino Sandalio to maneuver through the defense. In the 85thth minute of the game Carlos Luna who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Arsenal's Emiliano Martínez was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Samuel Fiúza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Malin Pušķis in the 86th minute of play. After 92 minutes, Cevat Raşit mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Arsenal and the Gremio Viana players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cevat Raşit hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Antonio Calisto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emiliano Martínez having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
