In the 15th minute 김 준 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Cvitanović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luka Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. 박 서문 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute of the match South Korea got a corner. Croatia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. 김 엽 ran over to the corner to take the kick. 김 엽 made a great header on South Korea's corner, it was just that Croatia's Emil Cvitanović managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 23rd minute, Luka Mata made a precise shot to the right of 박 서문. South Korea's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Croatia's Emil Cvitanović played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 김 준 in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Croatia's goal looked a bit too open when 박 궉 came free, but Emil Cvitanović reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nikola Vlašić in the 31st minute of play forced South Korea's goalkeeper 박 서문 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 박 서문 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikola Vlašić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by 김 준 in the 32nd minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Emil Cvitanović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emil Cvitanović made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 김 준 in the 32nd minute of play. 박 서문 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luka Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Nikola Vlašić recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 김 준's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emil Cvitanović read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Croatia were furious when John Terry was red carded, 47 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Croatia's Joško Poklepović was substituted for Nikola Vlašić. In a very dangerous position, a player in Croatia fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 50 minutes, South Korea's Goodness I got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Emil Cvitanović. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

South Korea's 김 영 was substituted for Sam Sung. South Korea made a substitution. 황보 추 replaced 조 내. South Korea's 최 명 was substituted for Goodness I. 황보 추 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Emil Cvitanović tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by 황보 추 in the 60th minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Emil Cvitanović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Croatia defense, 황보 추 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emil Cvitanović. The Croatia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emil Cvitanović should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joško Poklepović got free with 박 서문 in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 66thth minute of the game Joško Poklepović who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but South Korea's 박 서문 was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 69 minutes into the match, South Korea's goalkeeper 박 서문 had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joško Poklepović. After 70 played minutes Croatia got a freekick which was hit by Joško Poklepović. Joško Poklepović hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Croatia's Emil Cvitanović played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 황보 추 in the 73rd minute of play. The corner led Croatia's Vedran Ćesić to fire away a dangerous shot which 박 서문 despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Jura Zaklan kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. In the 80th minute 황보 추 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Cvitanović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joško Poklepović got free with 박 서문 in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, South Korea's 박 서문 got control of the ball when Joško Poklepović tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emil Cvitanović came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by South Korea's 황보 추. But to his dismay, 황보 추 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The South Korea fans cheered their team off the field, for while Croatia had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
