Jan Gotthard who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 8thth minute tested the skills of Waut Van Der Meeren when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Waut Van Der Meeren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viktor Reicher in the 15th minute of the match. Nestor Cruz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Los Spurs's Jan Gotthard in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Anversa Club's goalie prevented a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jan Gotthard stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Anversa Club's Waut Van Der Meeren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Gotthard in the 52nd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Winarto Songgonau took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Roland Hock to make any attempt to save it. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Anversa Club's goalkeeper Waut Van Der Meeren, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Roland Hock made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicu Vornicu in the 62nd minute. Waut Van Der Meeren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan Gotthard in the 63rd minute of play. Anversa Club's Waut Van Der Meeren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eike Salmutter in the 64th minute of play. Roland Hock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicu Vornicu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicu Vornicu in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roland Hock saved Los Spurs from getting behind. After 75 played minutes Los Spurs got a freekick which was hit by Sven-Christian Zupancic. If Nicu Vornicu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waut Van Der Meeren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan Gotthard, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eike Salmutter in the 79th minute of play forced Anversa Club's goalkeeper Waut Van Der Meeren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd match minute, Anversa Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joe Van Landschoot to maneuver through the defense. Waut Van Der Meeren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leon Horsky's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eike Salmutter in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waut Van Der Meeren prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonas Wessler hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. The Anversa Club supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Anversa Club would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
