An unexpectedly hard shot by Altino Damásio in the 10th minute of play forced Springbok's goalkeeper Ivan Mangope to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Altino Damásio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Mangope having to interfere. After 16 minutes, Johann Stoltz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Springbok and the Encourados players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 17 played minutes, Encourados's Geraldo Ramires shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ivan Mangope came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Encourados reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Samuel Komani got free with Catarino Ferreira in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Encourados getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Moisés Jordão hit a great ball. Catarino Ferreira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernard Thokozani in the 27th minute. Ricardo Brites charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Brites the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee gave Encourados a penalty, 31 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Geraldo Ramires, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Springbok's Ivan Mangope. 0-1. When Teodoro Quental fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Encourados's protests and gave Teodoro Quental a yellow card for diving instead. Teodoro Quental kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Vítor Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Catarino Ferreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edries Liau in the 42nd minute of the match. Catarino Ferreira made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Samuel Komani sent off a good shot on target. If Altino Damásio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Altino Damásio to strike the kick off in the second half. During the 52nd minute of the match Johann Stoltz completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Johann Stoltz a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 66 played minutes Springbok got a freekick which was hit by Oliver Mbheki. In the 72nd minute, Geraldo Ramires hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Encourados's zone, Samuel Komani stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Catarino Ferreira came out of the goal and Samuel Komani tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vítor Mesquita got free with Ivan Mangope in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Edries Liau managed to get in a good position for a shot. Springbok's supporters rose to their feet, but Edries Liau was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Catarino Ferreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ivan Mangope stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Altino Damásio's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. In the 91st minute, Edries Liau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Vítor Mesquita, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 97 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Ivan Mangope was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
