When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Altino Damásio sped through Musquiada's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ronaldinho Aguiar. Agostinho Meirelles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Catarino Ferreira made a huge save. Catarino Ferreira made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Agostinho Meirelles sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes into the match, Encourados's goalkeeper Catarino Ferreira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agostinho Meirelles. In the 41st minute Altino Damásio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldinho Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Musquiada's Laerte Favoretto got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laerte Favoretto made a kick off. Ronaldinho Aguiar was out of position in the 52 minute of play, and Ricardo Brites capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal.
