As de Copas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sergen Şahbender ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led FC Ouagadougou National's Sean Westelinx to fire away a dangerous shot which Ruslan Reichl despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by As de Copas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sergen Şahbender was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Ouagadougou National's players had a chance to rest. In the 43rd minute, Jedrzej Kiszkiel reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ruslan Reichl.
