Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Vasile Blănaru came free, but Epifanio Havier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Epifanio Havier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chorache Tofiño, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vasile Blănaru in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Epifanio Havier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 16 minutes into the game, Progresul Pitesti's Chorache Tofiño nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Epifanio Havier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After a rather tough play, Club A. Independiente's Adrian Pacifico got a free kick in the 26th minute. Club A. Independiente's Epifanio Havier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karol Czempa in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Chorache Tofiño left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Progresul Pitesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 33 minutes into the game, Karol Czempa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Epifanio Havier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to Club A. Independiente getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Generoso Blai hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the match, Club A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Chorache Tofiño came free, but Epifanio Havier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasile Blănaru scored 0-4 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Epifanio Havier, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Progresul Pitesti were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vasile Blănaru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute of the match, Chorache Tofiño got a very nice opportunity to score, but Epifanio Havier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Progresul Pitesti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Florin Logofătu in the 58th minute. The corner led Progresul Pitesti's Florin Logofătu to fire away a dangerous shot which Epifanio Havier despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 61st minute of the match, Vasile Blănaru got a very nice opportunity to score, but Epifanio Havier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After some careless play in the Club A. Independiente defense, Vasile Blănaru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Epifanio Havier. The Club A. Independiente fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Epifanio Havier should have stopped the shot. In the 70th minute, Saverio Astigar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Club A. Independiente's goalkeeper Epifanio Havier, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 81 minutes into the match, Club A. Independiente's goalkeeper Epifanio Havier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vasile Blănaru. The supporters of Progresul Pitesti booed when Club A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Generoso Blai didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chorache Tofiño in the 89th minute of play forced Club A. Independiente's goalkeeper Epifanio Havier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Club A. Independiente getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Saverio Astigar hit a great ball. A hard shot 92 in the game by Karol Czempa from a close distance when the talented Epifanio Havier managed to make a qualified save. Club A. Independiente's players were relieved. Progresul Pitesti's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
