But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victorio Demesio couldn't finish the play. Basilio Frisco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Benicio Javiero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atlético Nuevo Laredo's goalkeeper Benicio Javiero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to El Paszito getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Basilio Frisco hit a great ball. Benicio Javiero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victorio Demesio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Atlético Nuevo Laredo's goal looked a bit too open when Basilio Frisco came free, but Benicio Javiero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, El Paszito's Ryszard Opat got control of the ball when Tobías Astorga tried to sneak it across the goal line.

The wind increased when Victorio Demesio made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Atlético Nuevo Laredo's Jonathan Martxot nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 71st minute, El Paszito's Basilio Frisco ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benicio Javiero. Benicio Javiero yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. The referee ignored Atlético Nuevo Laredo's protests and gave Flavio Etxatxu a yellow card for diving instead.
