The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorg Pieters got free with 杨凌升 in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pepe Santoro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 郑奕明's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Independiente's Pepe Santoro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cleto Barea in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by 郑奕明 in the 9th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Pepe Santoro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 杨凌升 made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Elvio Ioritz sent off a good shot on target. Independiente's Albano Bertol got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Cleto Barea made the kick off in the second half.
