In the 4th minute Anselmo Nevada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Wahlnäs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kevin Keegan in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pankracy Glogowski saved Club Atlético Atlanta from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kevin Keegan in the 6th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pankracy Glogowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Kurt Hamrin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olov Wahlnäs stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mugur Chiriac's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. Hans Petersson kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Olov Wahlnäs stood somewhat misplaced when Alfonso Goicoechea came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 23 minute. 27 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Olov Wahlnäs had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paolo Caradaro. Alfonso Goicoecheas short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Olov Wahlnäs to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 30 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Atlanta's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Keegan came free, but Pankracy Glogowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Skövde AIK's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Alfonso Goicoechea scored to the left of an out of position Olov Wahlnäs, making the score, 2-0. In the 36thth minute of the game Kevin Keegan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atlético Atlanta's Pankracy Glogowski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 37th minute Mugur Chiriac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olov Wahlnäs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kevin Keegan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pankracy Glogowski having to interfere. Ciro Ferdinand kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Pankracy Glogowski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Keegan, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mugur Chiriac in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Ciro Ferdinand hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfonso Goicoechea was the one to do the kick off. In the 57th minute, Skövde AIK's Kevin Keegan dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. Olov Wahlnäs came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Atlanta's Alfonso Goicoechea. But to his dismay, Alfonso Goicoechea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. The audience was convinced that Kevin Keegan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pankracy Glogowski was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Skövde AIK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Chen Ao Fan in the 66th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Alfonso Goicoechea had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olov Wahlnäs. Skövde AIK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso Goicoechea was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. Skövde AIK made a substitution. Jerry Williams replaced Chen Ao Fan. Club Atlético Atlanta made a substitution. Benigno Abreu replaced Remigio Erramu. In the 74thth minute of the game Alfonso Goicoechea who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Skövde AIK's Kevin Keegan in the 76th minute got a chance for a shot 76th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Club Atlético Atlanta's goalie prevented a goal. Jerry Williams sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd match minute, Club Atlético Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lázaro Cuartio to maneuver through the defense. Pankracy Glogowski made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Jerry Williams sent off a good shot on target. Olov Wahlnäs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 85th minute of the match. Olov Wahlnäs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anselmo Nevada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pankracy Glogowski made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Kevin Keegan sent off a good shot on target. Ciro Ferdinand hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Skövde AIK's zone, Mugur Chiriac stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olov Wahlnäs came out of the goal and Mugur Chiriac tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Club Atlético Atlanta walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
